💕As survivors of trauma, being heard is such an integral part of our healing process.
💕There are times when we may reach out for support and those we look to may not support us in the way we had hoped.
💕Some might be dealing with or even triggered by their own trauma; some may not have the skills to offer us the validation we seek; and others might just have no clue as to what we are experiencing.
💕In the case of covert narcissistic abuse - in both romantic AND parent-child relationships- the toxicity may have been kept so well-hidden that those close to us may not have witnessed or comprehend the severity of the abuse experienced.
💕This emotional invalidation can leave a trauma survivor feeling unseen, isolated and very alone.
💕It is important to seek out and create a loving support circle- including a grounded therapist trained in childhood trauma- and identify and express to your circle what type of support you need.
💕Opening up and asking for support and validation may be difficult but necessary for healing to begin.
💕You are entitled to feel whatever you need to feel. What happened to you is real. Your feelings are valid regardless of anyone’s stamp of approval.
